Thermal Oxidizers

To establish the project design basis for “Thermal Oxidizers”, confirm “Waste gas and oxidation basis” and its inputs: Define inlet-gas flow/composition, contaminants, load variability, auxiliary-fuel needs and permit/site acceptance basis. Final values, supply limits and acceptance criteria are recorded in approved engineering documents; no generic capacity or catalogue guarantee is assumed.

Thermal Oxidizers

From project definition to delivery

Engineering intent and design approach

Engineering of Thermal Oxidizers concentrates on waste-gas composition and heating value, destruction efficiency, combustion temperature, residence time, oxygen availability, burner stability, refractory duty and stack emissions. The selected configuration is verified against normal, minimum, start-up, shutdown and credible upset cases, then checked for operability, maintainability, energy use, process safety and site interfaces before the design is frozen.

The design basis for Thermal Oxidizers is defined from service data, design conditions, and battery limits. For this equipment, Waste gas and oxidation basis and Fuel and process conditions must be completed in the datasheet and design documents; performance values and guarantees are set only after the project basis is approved.

Mechanical design and materials

Materials, corrosion allowance, sour-service requirements, piping classes, nozzle design, insulation, coating, supports and maintenance access are coordinated with the actual process conditions and project code hierarchy.

Control, safeguarding and operation

Control philosophy, alarms and trips, cause-and-effect logic, interlocks, start-up and shutdown sequences, safe depressurization and operator access are developed consistently from the P&IDs through functional testing.

Layout, utilities and interfaces

Battery limits, tie-in points, structural loads, cabling, instrumentation, drains, vents, access routes, lifting envelopes and shipping constraints are controlled through coordinated models and interface drawings.

These values describe a published modular RTO family. They are not universal thermal-oxidizer limits or Delham guarantees; confirm the waste stream, operating case, emissions permit and test basis.

Published equipment-family or project data only; not a universal standard limit or Delham rating/guarantee.
ParameterPublished valueReference basisApplicability / limit
Standardized modular gas-flow range1,000–100,000 Nm³/hPublished range for a regenerative thermal-oxidizer product family.Normal reference conditions, VOC concentration, moisture, particulates and chamber configuration must match the selected model.
Oxidation-chamber temperature850–1,150 °CPublished operating-temperature envelope for the cited RTO family. The required temperature depends on contaminant chemistry, concentration, mixing and the approved destruction target.
Thermal energy recovery>97%Published heat-recovery capability for the cited regenerative arrangement.Actual recovery is affected by cycling, media, fouling, purge losses, leakage and inlet/outlet conditions.
Destruction/removal efficiency example99% published RTO guaranteePublished performance statement for that RTO product family. Not a regulatory default; the guarantee must define compounds, inlet loading, operating envelope, sampling method and exclusions.
