Reformer Furnaces

To establish the project design basis for “Reformer Furnaces”, confirm “Reformer feed and process tubes” and its inputs: Provide feed/steam composition and flow, reference conditions, process/thermal targets, tube arrangement/specification and fuel/combustion limits. Final values, supply limits and acceptance criteria are recorded in approved engineering documents; no generic capacity or catalogue guarantee is assumed.

Reformer Furnaces

From project definition to delivery

Engineering intent and design approach

Engineering of Reformer Furnaces concentrates on feed purification, reaction equilibrium, steam-to-carbon ratio, catalyst protection, heat-flux distribution, reformer metallurgy, heat recovery, product composition and safe firing control. The selected configuration is verified against normal, minimum, start-up, shutdown and credible upset cases, then checked for operability, maintainability, energy use, process safety and site interfaces before the design is frozen.

The design basis for Reformer Furnaces is defined from service data, design conditions, and battery limits. For this equipment, Reformer feed and process tubes and Fuel and process conditions must be completed in the datasheet and design documents; performance values and guarantees are set only after the project basis is approved.

Mechanical design and materials

Materials, corrosion allowance, sour-service requirements, piping classes, nozzle design, insulation, coating, supports and maintenance access are coordinated with the actual process conditions and project code hierarchy.

Control, safeguarding and operation

Control philosophy, alarms and trips, cause-and-effect logic, interlocks, start-up and shutdown sequences, safe depressurization and operator access are developed consistently from the P&IDs through functional testing.

Layout, utilities and interfaces

Battery limits, tie-in points, structural loads, cabling, instrumentation, drains, vents, access routes, lifting envelopes and shipping constraints are controlled through coordinated models and interface drawings.

Temperature and pressure below are published process operating references for steam reforming, not furnace-casing design limits. Feed composition, steam-to-carbon ratio, catalyst, tube metallurgy and plant configuration change the design.

Published equipment-family or project data only; not a universal standard limit or Delham rating/guarantee.

Published reformer operating temperature740–950°COperating-temperature span stated for a steam reformer technology offering.Process-side reference; not tube-metal or firebox temperature. Confirm catalyst, conversion, feed and tube-skin-temperature limits.
Published reformer operating pressureUp to 50 barMaximum operating pressure stated for the same steam-reforming technology reference.Process pressure only; it is not the fired enclosure pressure rating. Confirm pressure basis/location and all pressure-part design requirements.
