Molecular Seals

To establish the project design basis for “Molecular Seals”, confirm “Flare gas, purge and seal pressure drop” and its inputs: Define purge composition/flow, service pressure/temperature, allowable pressure drop, flow direction and seal/flashback-prevention duty from the flare basis. Final values, supply limits and acceptance criteria are recorded in approved engineering documents; no generic capacity or catalogue guarantee is assumed.

From project definition to delivery

Engineering intent and design approach

Engineering of Molecular Seals concentrates on process guarantees, operating envelope, equipment sizing, materials, control and safeguarding, utility demand, maintainability, modular interfaces and transport or site constraints. The selected configuration is verified against normal, minimum, start-up, shutdown and credible upset cases, then checked for operability, maintainability, energy use, process safety and site interfaces before the design is frozen.

The design basis for Molecular Seals is defined from service data, design conditions, and battery limits. For this equipment, Flare gas, purge and seal pressure drop and Flow path and seal internals must be completed in the datasheet and design documents; performance values and guarantees are set only after the project basis is approved.

Mechanical design and materials

Materials, corrosion allowance, sour-service requirements, piping classes, nozzle design, insulation, coating, supports and maintenance access are coordinated with the actual process conditions and project code hierarchy.

Control, safeguarding and operation

Control philosophy, alarms and trips, cause-and-effect logic, interlocks, start-up and shutdown sequences, safe depressurization and operator access are developed consistently from the P&IDs through functional testing.

Layout, utilities and interfaces

Battery limits, tie-in points, structural loads, cabling, instrumentation, drains, vents, access routes, lifting envelopes and shipping constraints are controlled through coordinated models and interface drawings.

Technical Datasheet

Technical Datasheet — Molecular Seals

The dimensional envelope below comes from one manufacturer product sheet. It describes equipment geometry, not purge rate, flashback guarantee, or universal seal performance.

Published equipment-family or project data only; not a universal standard limit or Delham rating/guarantee.
ParameterPublished valueReference basisApplicability / limit
Nominal diameter range4–84 inPublished nominal size range for one molecular-seal product family.Nominal size is not the actual outside diameter; confirm drawing, mating flare-tip/stack interface, and structural loads.
Actual diameter range12–190 inPublished actual-diameter range in the same product sheet.Multiple sizes and configurations span the range; it is not one model or a pressure/flow rating.
Published seal length6–20 ftPublished product-family length range.Confirm stack location, tip connection, drainage, thermal expansion, lifting, and access in the project layout.
Published construction optionsCarbon steel or stainless steel; 150-lb ANSI flangesOptions listed on the product sheet.Material grade, corrosion allowance, flange class, design pressure/temperature, and jurisdictional registration must be selected for service.
